The Giusso family has always lived – in its best representatives – the territory as a value to be nurtured and improved, be it Vico Equense, Naples, or Italy as a whole, starting from its founder Duke Luigi Giusso. The duke’s sons, Girolamo and Candido, continued this tradition, ending with the last duke who, without direct descendants, donated the ancestral castle to the Municipality of Sicignano degli Alburni, in the spirit of promoting the town’s development.
Over time, wars and vicissitudes have dispersed much of the family heritage, leaving Astapiana in a state of abandonment. But the bond with this land has remained strong and, thanks to the will and passion of this new generation of women, the adventure has started anew.
Astapiana is not just the place of roots, but the fertile ground for a more sustainable future. Only those who have memory can plan for the future; we remember the past to think about the future. The desire of Giulia, Erminia, Giovanna, Micaela, and Onorina is to carry forward what their ancestors began: a concrete commitment to the enhancement of the territory, in harmony with nature and the people who inhabit it.
Today, thanks to them, Astapiana has come back to life. The centuries-old olive trees yield precious oil, the bioenergy park and educational farm create new connections with the territory, while the hospitality keeps the spirit of the past alive. Here, every guest becomes part of an evolving story, where the past illuminates the future and every experience transforms into an authentic and precious memory.
